West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel and dance partner Angelo Caruso, of Caruso Dancesport in Palm Beach, prepare for a performance in the Reach for the Stars show set for March 14 at the Kravis Center. The event will benefit the Kravis' S.T.A.R. (Student and Teacher Arts Resource) Series.

The twinkle-toe grudge match is back!

For the second year in a row, it will be "The Media Versus the Mayor" during the Reach for the Stars event benefiting the Kravis Center S.T.A.R. (Student and Teacher Arts Resource) Series.

It will be held at 6 p.m. March 14.

West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel will polish her dance shoes, put on her fanciest duds and prepare to square off against last year's winner, CBS 12 and WFLX Fox 29's Suzanne Boyd.

The evening's ballroom dance competition also includes these local media celebrity dancers:

* Ric Blackwell, CBS 12 and WFLX Fox 29

* Paige Kornblue, WPTV News Channel 5

* Virginia Lang, WILD 95.5 FM

* Lexxus from WZZR's the Love Doctors

* Felicia Rodriguez, WPBF TV Channel 25

* Leslie Gray Streeter, Palm Beach Post

The celebrities are paired with professional dancers Angelo Caruso and Armando Vega-Perez from Caruso Dancesport in Palm Beach, Warren Brown from Fred Astaire in Jupiter, Claude Crevier from Park Avenue Dance in Lake Park, Andreas Luetzner and Doreen Scheinpflug from Fred Astaire in West Palm Beach, Herb Vazquez from the Palms West Ballroom in Royal Palm Beach and Joe Morley from the Dancin' Dance Center in Palm Beach Gardens. Costumes for the competition are provided by Deirdre of London.

Reach for the Stars audiences will have plenty of fuel for the festivities with a two-hour tasting of gourmet food and drinks from more than 20 restaurants, bars and vendors.

Guests will move from the tasting in Dreyfoos Hall lobbies into the Cohen Pavilion for coffee, dessert and the ballroom dance competition, to be judged by Frank Cerabino, Palm Beach Post columnist; Hillie Merritt Mahoney, former Miss Rheingold and TV spokeswoman; and Bud Palmer, former NBA star and sportscaster.

The event will be emceed by Tim Byrd from KOOL 105.5 FM.

Late-night dancing with music by Bob Merrill and the Sultans of Swing will follow.

Additional activities will include two auctions, with one offering the winning painting by a local student during the annual Reach for the Stars Commemorative Art competition.

Reach for the Stars is presented by the Young Friends of the Kravis Center.

Tickets are $75 for members of Young Friends, $100 for nonmembers and $175 for a VIP ticket, which includes reserved seating for the dance competition, valet parking and commemorative gift bags.
